Amanda Bi

Amanda Bi is a Patent Associate in the New York office of Ladas & Parry. 

She has extensive experience of working with patent law. Amanda’s patent practice generally focuses on the electrical, mechanical and biomedical arts. Her practice covers technologies such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, computer software, electronic devices, telecommunications, mechanics, and medical devices.  Before she joined Ladas & Parry, she prosecuted numerous patent applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) while she was working for domestic and international law firms. 

Amanda earned her Bachelor of Science from Tsinghua University and her Juris Doctor from Chicago-Kent College of Law, where she served as Executive Editor of the Journal of Intellectual Property. Amanda has knowledge and experience in a wide range of intellectual property law. She researched U.S. case law and drafted memoranda regarding copyright law and trademark law when she was working for an IP law firm in Chicago, where she also drafted IP assignment agreements.  

Amanda is admitted to the New York and Illinois Bars and has passed the USPTO Registration Exam. She also holds Chinese Patent Bar Qualification and Chinese Bar qualification. Before entering the legal field, Amanda had six years of industry experience as an electrical engineer. She designed hardware and software for embedded systems. This experience provides her with a strong technical foundation that supports her work with complex technologies. In her spare time, Amanda enjoys swimming, hiking, and music.
