SCOTUS rules in Star Athletica v. Varsity Brands that surface decorations are separable and thus entitled to copyright protection
In a 4-1-2 decision in Star Athletica v. Varsity Brands, the Supreme Court held that the surface decorations on the cheerleading uniforms at issue were separable and therefore eligible for copyright protection. See our full article in the Education Center.
