USPTO Issues the 10 Millionth US Patent on 6/19/2018

The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) issued U.S. Patent Number 10,000,000 on June 19th, 2018. The 10 millionth patent was for a “Coherent Ladar Using Intra-Pixel Quadrature Detection” which was invented by Mr. Joseph Marron and is owned by Raytheon Company.

The first patent in the United States was signed by George Washington on July 31, 1790 and was issued to Mr. Samuel Hopkins for the invention of a process for making potash (a salt rich in potassium, which is used in fertilizer).
