PRESIDENT OBAMA SIGNED THE DEFEND TRADE SECRETS ACT OF 2016

President Obama signed the Defend Trade Secrets Act of 2016, strengthening the abilities of companies to prevent and address trade secret theft.  Under this new law, owners will have a federal cause of action against those who have misappropriated their trade secrets.  The law will also create an ability to seize property necessary to prevent propagation or dissemination of a trade secret, increase the maximum fine, and provide some protection to whistleblowers.
