USPTO LAUNCHES PILOT PROGRAM FACILITATING THIRD PARTY NOTIFICATION ABOUT DIGITALLY ALTERED TM SPECIMENS

The USPTO has launched a pilot program to make it easier for third parties to report trademark use specimens that appear to have been digitally altered, whether they do so before or during the opposition period. Interestingly, the pilot does not allow for notification of such allegedly fraudulent use specimens in intent to use applications that have passed the opposition period and have been allowed for registration, pending acceptable use evidence.
