Ladas partner Janet Cord, a co-chair of the Intellectual Property Committee of the Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York, reports the committee held its first virtual meeting of 2021 on January 13 in which the following topics were discussed:
- Changes to US trademark and copyright law that were included in the Bipartisan-Bicameral Omnibus COVID Relief Deal signed into law on December 27, 2020. These include new procedures for cancelling trademarks and establishing a tribunal to adjudicate claims of copyright infringement.
- Obtaining trademark registrations in the United Kingdom following BREXIT as the United Kingdom is no longer included in new applications for European trademarks filed with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EU IPO) and
- COVID-19 related patent and trademark application filings.
