In July, the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in the case of Automotive Body Parts Association v. Ford Global Technologies, LLC agreed with car manufacturers that aesthetic functionality and exceptions in infringement law for patent auto parts used for repairs did not belong in U.S. Design Patent Law.
